Police, Fire to Train at Shasta Hall in July

Update July 20: The training has been moved from Yosemite to Shasta Hall in the Cuarto residential complex.

UC Davis and other local fire and police departments will train for a mass casualty incident at Shasta residence hall on Tuesday, July 25 and Thursday and Friday, July 27 and 28. Training will take place between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.

With the recent arrival of bright red ballistic vests and ballistic helmets, UC Davis firefighters are now equipped with some basic protection that allows them to enter a shooting scene, under police protection, much sooner than before 鈥� all in the interests of getting to patients as soon as possible.

NEWS BRIEFS: Safety Walk Will Go On, Rain or Moonlight

UC Davis won't let rain stop the safety walk planned for Wednesday night (March 9), the Police Department announced. So, show up at 6:30 p.m. at the flagpole on the Memorial Union鈥檚 South Patio, and bring your umbrellas! The organizers will be serving hot chocolate and snacks before the walk.
