UC Davis and International Strawberry Master Licensee Eurosemillas Agree to Part Ways

The ��Ƶ, Davis — a leader in the development of world-class strawberry varieties for the ��Ƶ and global markets – and Eurosemillas, S.A. — a leading agricultural company and plant developer based in Córdoba, Spain — have amicably agreed that Eurosemillas will no longer serve as the master licensee for UC Davis strawberries.

UC Davis Enters New International Strawberry Licensing Agreements

The ��Ƶ, Davis, has reached new agreements to license more than a dozen of its world-renowned strawberry varieties to growers in countries across the world.

The agreements ensure that nurseries and fruit growers in Mexico, South America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East have access to all available varieties developed by the UC Davis Public Strawberry Breeding Program.

Strawberry plant varieties developed at UC Davis produce about 60% of all strawberries consumed around the world.

UC Davis Ends Strawberry Licensing Agreements With Eurosemillas

The ��Ƶ, Davis, a leader in the development of world-class strawberry varieties for the ��Ƶ and global markets, is terminating all strawberry licensing agreements with Eurosemillas S.A., which has been a master licensee for older UC Davis strawberry varieties in countries outside of the United States.

UC Davis Releases 2 New Strawberry Varieties

Red, ripe strawberries are the hallmark of spring in ��Ƶ. Two new varieties from the Public Strawberry Breeding Program at the ��Ƶ, Davis, will provide consumers with big, flavorful strawberries throughout fall and winter, too.

“These cultivars were developed to provide high-quality fruit from late summer through the holidays,” said Professor Steve Knapp, director of the UC Davis Strawberry Breeding Program.
