Major requirements for the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences

Students who apply for transfer admission to selective majors are required to complete major preparation courses and meet additional course and GPA requirements.
Students need to take all courses for a letter grade with no grade less than C and complete all major preparatory course requirements by the end of spring term prior to their fall enrollment. The Department Agreements as published on ASSIST are also important documents. Reference them in conjunction with the major agreements as needed.
Selective major requirements
UC Davis requires a minimum 2.80 GPA for admission. Transfer Admission Guarantee, or TAG, for the College of Agricultural and Environmental requires at least a 3.20 GPA for all majors.
Transfer students are encouraged to complete as many major preparation courses listed under other major requirements prior to transfer as shown on the .
Some majors in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences have additional transfer requirements:
- Animal Biology (fall 2027)
- Animal Science (fall 2027)
- Biotechnology
- Managerial Economics
- Viticulture and Enology
- Wildlife, fish and conservation biology (fall 2027)
Students applying to the Landscape Architecture major should apply to Pre-Landscape Architecture.
Animal biology
Will be a selective major for fall 2027 applicants
- Complete the course below and maintain a 2.50 GPA in each series:
- Biological Sciences (BIS) 002A/B/C
- Chemistry (CHE) 002A/B/C
- Mathematics (MAT) 017A/B/C or 021A/B/C
Animal science
Will be a selective major for fall 2027 applicants
- Complete the courses below and maintain a 2.50 GPA across the entire group:
- Biological Sciences (BIS) 002A/B/C
- Chemistry (CHE) 002A/B/C
- Mathematics (MAT) 017A/B or 019A/B or 021A/B
Biotechnology
- Complete the courses below and maintain a 2.50 GPA in each series:

Managerial Economics
- Complete the courses below and maintain a 2.00 GPA in each series:

- Statistics (STA) 13 or 32
Note: MAT 16A/B/C accepted if taken before fall 2024
Viticulture and enology

Pre-landscape architecture
Students interested in landscape architecture should apply as pre-landscape architecture. While there are no specific major course requirements, a minimum 3.20 GPA is required for TAG eligibility. Students must submit an e-portfolio application to the Landscape Architecture department in February, after they enroll to UC Davis.
